2, 3 and 4-way valve: Verification for temperature issue

This article will help you to find out if the temperature adjustment of your valve is an installation or cartridge issue and the procedure to fix it. |

Important: You will need to open the valve to feel the water temperature. Please take the necessary precautions.

1. Turn on shower valve 2. Rotate the temperature handle clockwise all the way (without forcing it), feel the temperature and note it. 3. Rotate the handle counterclockwise all the way (without forcing it), feel the temperature and note it. 4. 3-way XX45 and XX47 valve only: Rotate the volume handle to operate each shower component. Confirm the markings on the plate match the component the water is discharging from. Based on the results of questions 2, 3, and 4, compare your results to the charts below (charts are based on valve number). |

You can flip the cartridge 180 degrees because it is currently fed reversed. Make sure the red entry gets hot water in and blue gets cold water in (See image below). Please refer to your trim installation guide for removing-installing the cartridge or click on this link for the repair guide.
