R5980105KIT Cartridge Instructions

Please read through all instructions before beginning, and call Rohl Technical Support if you have any questions.

Indication: 1. Leaking out the weep hole under the swivel spout. 2. Possible stiff lever. 3. Leaking under the cartridge nut.

Preparation:

Tools needed:

  • 2.5mm Allen key
  • 12" crescent wrench

 Shut water supply to the faucet off: Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Failure to do so could result in flooding or injury. 

Instruction:

To Change the cartridge:

1. Turn off the water supply.

2. Remove lever:

a.   Pop off red and blue screw cover cap.

b.   Insert 2.5mm Allen key and loosen the set screw. Do not remove all the way

3. Lift off the dome and refer to your faucet series handle diagram for removal of cartridge cover assembly.

4. Remove cartridge nut. Note: Mark the position of the nut with a marker to return to the same position.

a. Older models may have 45mm nut. Newer models may be
38mm nut. Use a 12” crescent wrench or like type of tool.

5. Remove cartridge and all o-rings. Brass cavity should be empty. The o-ring ‘B’ must be removed.

6. Grease the new cartridge on the sides and the top for easier installation. Grease is provided.

7. Position the cartridge into the body with the cartridge outlet in the correct position.

a.   Once in position, press down on the cartridge to push the lug into place.

b.   If there is some resistance, place the lever on the cartridge, and move the cartridge into place.

8. Thread the nut back into position.

a.   If there is trouble engaging the threads, remove the nut and cartridge. Re-seat the new cartridge and push into place.

b.   Some models may require a replacement nut R946454. Please call the main office for the part. 1-800-777-9762

9. Tighten the nut. If possible, tighten the nut to the point marked earlier.

10. Turn the water on before installing the lever and dome. Test the action.

a.   If there is leaking, tighten the unit or reposition the cartridge.

b.   If the lever is stiff, the nut may be too tight. Loosen the nut carefully and inspect for leaks.

11. After testing, replace all parts in reverse order.
