Amahle Wallmount Trim Installation

Step by Step Instructions

You may share the following information with your contractor or installer, as appropriate.

Section 1 TAM06, TAM08 and RH08W (do not use for RH08WM)

RH08W Rough-In Valve Installation Check

  1. Locate the RH08W rough-in valve
Identify the valve installed in the wall or designated plumbing area.

  2. Measure the installation depth
Using a measuring tool, check that the valve is installed at a depth of 2-5/8".
Refer to distance 'A' in the rough-in instructions for guidance.

  3. Confirm proper depth

  • If the valve is installed at 2-5/8", proceed with the standard installation process.
  • If the valve is not installed at 2-5/8", go to Section 2 for alternate instructions.
  1. Discard outdated components
Remove and discard the original all-thread versions:

  • Part number 7-332
  • Part number 7-331

Installation Steps: Plastic Adaptor A1220

  1. Identify the long stem cartridge
Locate the cartridge that requires the plastic adaptor. Ensure it is the correct long stem model.

  2. Prepare the plastic adaptor (A1220)
Remove the adaptor from its packaging and inspect it for any damage or debris.

  3. Align the adaptor with the cartridge
Position the A1220 adaptor so that it matches the shape and orientation of the long stem cartridge.

  4. Install the adaptor
Slide or press the plastic adaptor A1220 onto the long stem cartridge until it is securely seated.

  5. Verify the fit
Ensure the adaptor is properly installed and flush with the cartridge. There should be no gaps or loose movement.clipboard_ef50dce986ead731db16301b0bf01d8dd.png

Handle Fit and Gap Measurement

  1. Locate the long stem cartridge
Ensure the long stem cartridge is properly installed and accessible.

  2. Select the correct handle
Use the handle intended for the long stem configuration.

  3. Fit the handle onto the long stem
Gently place or slide the handle onto the long stem cartridge until it is seated in position.

  4. Check alignment and seating
Make sure the handle is aligned correctly and sits flush without forcing it.

  5. Measure the gap
Using a ruler or caliper, measure the gap between the back of the handle and the finished wall surface (or trim plate, if applicable).

  6. Record or assess the gap
Note the measurement to ensure it falls within acceptable installation tolerances.

Stem Cutting and Handle Installation

  1. Fit the handle onto the long stem
Temporarily place the handle on the stem to assess the required length.

  2. Measure the gap
Measure the distance between the handle and the finished wall or trim surface.

  3. Mark the correct cutting point
Based on the measured gap, mark the stem where it needs to be cut.
⚠️ Tip: Measure twice to ensure accuracy.

  4. Cut the stem
Carefully cut the stem at the marked point.
⚠️ Do not cut the stem too short—this may affect handle functionality.

Installing the Handle

  1. Thread the handle flange onto the valve body
Align the handle flange and thread it directly onto the valve body.

  2. Hand-tighten the flange
Tighten the flange by hand until it is secure.
⚠️ Do not over-tighten—this can cause the handle to become stiff during operation.

Section 2: TAM06 and TAM08:  RH08W is not installed at a depth of 2-5/8" (distance A)

Ordering Adaptors and Discarding Old Parts

  1. Order one set of adaptors:
  2. Part number 219599
  3. Part number C5590
  4. Check the installation depth (Distance 'A')

  5. Measure the depth labeled as 'A' in the rough-in instructions.

  6. If Distance 'A' is between 3.8" and 4.2"

  7. Order an additional set of C5590 adaptors (total of 2 sets of C5590).

Discarding Old Components

  1. Remove and discard the original all-thread parts:
  2. Part number 7332
  3. Part number 7331

Replacing Brass Adaptor

  1. Identify the existing brass adaptor

Locate the current brass adaptor installed in the valve assembly.

  2. Confirm it is the original version

Ensure the adaptor is the older model without additional threads.

  3. Remove the original brass adaptor

Carefully unthread and remove the existing adaptor from the valve body.

  4. Prepare the replacement adaptor (Part #219599)

Inspect the new 219599 brass adaptor, which includes additional threads for improved installation.

  5. Install the 219599 brass adaptor

Thread the new adaptor onto the valve body until it is securely seated.

  6. Verify proper installation

Ensure the adaptor is aligned correctly and fully threaded without cross-threading.

Section 3: TAM06 and TAM08, Continued

Installing Threaded Sleeve Adaptors Based on Depth

  1. Measure the depth from the rough centerline to the finished wall
This is referred to as Distance 'A' in the rough-in instructions.

  2. Determine the required adaptors based on the measured depth:

  • If Distance 'A' is between 3.8" and 4.2":
  • Install a combination of C5590 and 219599 threaded sleeve adaptors.
  • You will need 2 sets of C5590 adaptors to accommodate the extended depth.
  • If Distance 'A' is between 2.375" and 2.7":
  • No adaptors are needed.
  • Do not install C5590 or 219599 adaptors.

Proceed with the remaining installation steps based on the configuration used

Handle Installation

  1. Position the handle
Align the handle with the valve stem, ensuring it is properly seated.

  2. Thread the handle onto the valve body
Begin threading the handle flange directly onto the valve body.

  3. Hand-tighten the handle
Turn the handle by hand until it is snug and secure.
⚠️ Do not over-tighten—this may cause the handle to become stiff during operation.

  4. Test the handle
Rotate the handle to confirm smooth operation and proper alignment.
