C3009: Cartridge Replacement Instructions

 

Problem:  The control lever is working smoothly but the faucet is still leaking.

Solution:  Replace the mixing cartridge.

Tools Required:

  • 3 mm, Allen Wrench
  • Large or Adjustable Crescent Wrench

Preparation:  Turn off water supply either at the main line or from underneath the sink

1.  Remove the plug (1).

2. Use a 3 mm. allen wrench and loosen the control lever set screw (2), and remove the lever.

3.  Remove the ring nut cover cap (3).

4.  Screw out and remove the ring nut (4) which fastens the cartridge.

5.  Remove the mixing cartridge (5).

6.  Assemble the new cartridge (5) into the single-lever mixer body, making sure that it will be correctly place as per figure.

Reassemble the mixer and tighten the ring nut (4) which fastens the cartridge by a 16 +/- Nm torque; then check if it works well.

It is recommended to hand tighten the cartridge nut as much as possible.  Using a large, or adjustable crescent wrench, give the cartridge nut a quarter turn clockwise to reinforce and test for leaks.  If a leak occurs, continue with a quarter turn method until the leak subsides.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
