A3431 Cartridge Replacement Instructions
Tools Required:2MM Allen Wrench, 3MM Allen Wrench, 27MM Socket, or Large Adjustable Crescent Wrench
Shut water supply to the faucet off: Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Failure to do so could result in flooding or injury.
Handle Removal: |
By hand, grasp the lever and rotate, or twist counterclockwise to loosen and remove the lever from the ball end. |
Using a 2MM Allen Wrench, rotate the set screw counterclockwise to loosen. Do not remove entirely. Once loose enough, pull ball end off stem assembly. |
By hand, grasp round decorative ring, and rotate counterclockwise to loosen and remove. |
Using a 3MM Allen Wrench, rotate the stem assembly screw counterclockwise to loosen. It is not necessary to remove entirely. Once loose enough, pull stem assembly, and dome cover off cartridge stem. |
Cartridge Removal: |
Using a 27MM socket, or a large adjustable crescent wrench, rotate the brass cartridge nut counterclockwise to loosen and remove. | ![]() |
Pull cartridge out of faucet body. Before installing new cartridge, it is reccommended to flush out supplies and inlet ports to ensure there is no residual debris. Align two tabs on underside of cartridge with two insets on faucet body (not shown), and proceed by following steps in reverse to reassemble. |
