9.07245 Diverter Install Tub Filler

 

 Shut water supply to the faucet off: Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Failure to do so could result in flooding or injury.

1. Remove the Pop-Up Knob from the diverter rod.

2. Using a 4 mm Allen wrench, remove the set screw at the base of the faucet.

3. Pull the spout and base escutcheon.

4. Using a pair of pliers or a crescent wrench, unscrew the brass top.

5. Pull the brass top off and remove with the diverter rod and plunger.

6. Replace the O-ring, spring, diverter disk, and screw.  Please refer to the diagram below for more details.

Detailed description of the O-ring replacement: If you are repairing or replacing the diverter, follow instructions 1-5 first.

To repair the diverter: Replace the top O-ring (1) on the brass top of the rough valve. Then the larger O-ring (3) on the chrome section of the rough body.  Then unthread the screw (8) and remove the black disk and spring. Place the new spring (7) on the diverter rod and the O-ring (2) on the new black disk. Using the new screw (8), thread the black disk onto the diverter rod and follow directions 1-5 in reverse to reassemble.  Replace the O-rings (4-6) only if the Tee is leaking
