Preparation: |
Shut water supply to the faucet off: Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Crescent wrench
Handle and bell housing styles may vary.
Country Classic cross handle shown in photo.
Locate the bell shaped housing under the handle and unthread counterclockwise,to loosen. The handle and bell housing are one assembly, do not disassemble.
Once the bell shaped housing is loose, it will toggle up and down, indicating the handle assembly is free from the cartridge. Pull the handle straight up and off the cartridge stem |
Use a crescent wrench to remove cartridge by rotating counterclockwise, as shown. If the side-valve rotates with the cartridge, hold the side-valve from under the deck as you rotate the cartridge counterclockwise from above the deck. |
Remove the cartridge and replace it by inserting a new cartridge and rotating clockwise until snug. Turn the water supply back on to test. Reassemble the handle assembly onto the new cartridge stem |
