C7324 Drain Assemby and Repair Guide

Problem:

ON INITIAL INSTALLATION THE POP-UP SEEMS TO LEAK WATER IN THE DOWN/CLOSED POSITION

Solution:
  1. TILE POP-UP HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED PROPERLY-THAT IS- (PLUMBERS PUTTY  HAS NOT BEEN USED TO MAKE THE CORRECT SEAL IN THE SINK)
  2. THE SINK MAYBE CRACKED, BUT THIS IS VERY RARE
Assembly:
  • Remove the parts from the package.
  • Apply a thick application of Plumbers Putty (not supplied in the package, but must be supplied by installer) to the rim of the escutcheon.
  • Insert the escutcheon in the drain opening (discard the foam ring).
  • Stack the:
  • Large conical rubber piece on the bottom of the drain first- push to the top
  • Then the white nylon friction washer.
  • Then the nut.
  • Tighten the nut, holding the drain straight in the drain hole
  • This will compact the plumbers putty making a watertight seal
  • Screw the horizontal pop-up assembly onto the bottom of the drain
  • Make sure the clear nylon ring is on the top assembly next to the drain threads
  • Screw on the bottom drain pipe
  • Use Teflon tape on the threads to avoid leaking
  • Make your P-trap connection
  • Remove the excess plumbers putty from the bowl
  • Insert the pop-up
  •  As you insert the pop-up, unscrew the horizontal pop-up rod, and put the rod end into the nylon pop-up hole.
  • Screw the nut back on. Note: Do not over tighten, this will cause the pop-up rod to move very hard
