No hot water out of a 1005N Thermostatic Rough Valve
1005N New Installation
 Do they get any range of temperature at all?

No:

  • Test the valve without the trim installed.
    • If the temperature changes can be achieved by manually rotating the thermostatic cartridge stem, the trim is not properly engaging the cartridge.
    • Verify the trim installation and determine if a stem extension is required.
  • Flush the valve components.
    • Flush the cartridge chamber, inlet filters, and check valve inserts to remove any debris or blockage.
  • Verify water pressure balance.
    • Ensure hot and cold-water supplies have similar pressure.
    • The pressure difference between hot and cold supplies must not exceed 15 PSI.
  • Replace the thermostatic cartridge 
    • If the issue persists after completing the above steps.

Yes:

  • Remove the trim.
    • Recalibrate the cartridge by rotating the cartridge stem:
    • Turn the stem left for hotter water.
    • Turn the stem right for colder water.
    • The factory setting is 100.4 °F before the hot limit override.
       
  • Reinstall the trim.
    • Position the lever at 6 o’clock to ensure proper alignment with the hot limit override.
1005N Existing Install
  • Flush the valve components.
    • Flush the cartridge chamber, inlet filter, and inlet check valve inserts to ensure there is no blockage.
  • Replace thermostatic cartridge.
    • If the issue continues after flushing, replace the thermostatic cartridge.
