Disassembly of the CSTM57-CSTQ57 external valve bar

This article will show you how to disassemble the bar on a CSTM-CSTQ57 to clean it and-or to replace the slider.

Preparation:

Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Failure to do so could result in flooding or injury. 

  • Recommended tools: 2.5mm allen key, adjustable wrench

1. Unscrew to loosen the bar nut that connects to the external valve. At this point you will not be able to remove it.

2. Unscrew the Allen screw of the wall bracket and pull the bar towards you to remove it from the wall bracket.

3. Go back and unscrew the bar nut completely and remove the bar assembly from the external valve.

4. Check for debris obstructing the top output of the external valve.

If you want to replace the slider, go to the next steps as you will need to separate the bars

5. Unscrew the part that went into the wall bracket.

6. Once unscrewed, separate the bars by pulling on the top one and pull out the slider from the top of the bottom bar.
