Indication:

No water flow out of the spout after the side spray is used.

Do not change the diverter if:

  1. There is partial diverting action. 90% flow out of the side spray and 10% flow out of the spout is not a defect. There is some resistance back from the side spray, but the diverter is not at fault.
  2. The side spray is not turning off, or leaking. The side spray operates independently of the diverter. Service the side spray if leaking occurs or if it will not shut off.
Tools Required

New Diverter, Plumber’s Grease, 2MM Allen Key and Pliers

Preparation:

Shut water supply to the faucet off: Important: Turn off the water supply at the faucet before starting. You can either turn off the main supply to the house or close the shut-off valves if the faucet is equipped with them. Then open the faucet again to empty it of residual water. Failure to do so could result in flooding or injury.

Step 1. Remove the spout and diverter from the faucet body. Start by locating and removing the small set screw at the back of the faucet. Using  a 2MM Metric Allen Key, turn the set screw counterclockwise.

Once the set screw is removed, pull the spout up and off of the faucet base. Locate the diverter at the end of the spout. Using pliers, grip the diverter on the two flat sides and unscrew from the end of the spout, counterclockwise.

Apply plumber’s grease/lubricant to the new diverter and screw the new diverter onto the base of the spout by hand and then tighten using pliers.

Step 2. Flush the water lines to ensure all particles/debris is clear from the faucet.

Step 3. Reattach the spout to the faucet body, by aligning the designated hole in the plastic gasket on the base of the spout, with the hole at the back of the faucet body and push the spout down into place. Using a 2MM Allen Key, tighten the set screw.
