Aerator Removal and Cleaning

Before removing an aerator, gather the appropriate tools to help prevent damage to the faucets finish.

• Soft Cloth or Rag
• Adjustable Pliers
• Aerator Key (Cache Key)

Always try removing the aerator by hand first. If additional force is needed, use a cloth between the tool and the aerator to protect the finish.

• Place a towel or rag in the sink to prevent small parts from falling down the drain.
• Unscrew the aerator by turning it counterclockwise.
• If needed, use pliers or an aerator key. Protect the finish with a rag or tape before using tools.
• Carefully remove the internal parts and note their order for reassembly.

• Place the plastic internal aerator in a container of 50/50 white vinegar and water.
• Let it soak for 15–30 minutes to help remove mineral buildup and debris.

• Use a soft toothbrush to gently clean the screen.
• Remove any stubborn debris with a toothpick.
• Rinse all components thoroughly with warm water.

• Reinstall the parts in the same order they were removed.
• Ensure the rubber washer is seated properly to help prevent leaks.
• Screw the aerator back onto the faucet and hand-tighten.
• Turn on the water and run both hot and cold water for about 1 minute to flush out any remaining debris and confirm proper flow.
