Genius: How to Replace the Thermistor-Electronic Board Assembly

This article will explain how to replace the thermistor-electronic board assembly on a Genius Electronic shower valve
Preparation:

Important: Turn off the water supply to the electronic valve before starting. You can either turn off the main power to the house or close the shut-off valves, if the valve is equipped with them.  Also turn off the electrical supply to the electronic valve.  Failure to do so may result in flooding, personal injury or electrical shock.

  • Recommended tools: Phillips screwdriver, pliers
Instructions: 

1 - UNSCREW THE RED BOX 8 SCREWS

2 - THE THERMISTOR WIRE WILL COME INSTALLED ON THE NEW ELECTRONIC BOARD ALONG WITH THE BATTERY WIRES. MAKE SURE THAT THE LITTLE ORING (GREEN ARROW) IS THERE, IF NOT TAKE THE ONE FROM YOUR OLD THERMISTOR.

3 - TO REMOVE THE OLD ELECTRONIC BOARD, YOU NEED TO :

a. UNSCREW THE THERMISTOR BRASS NUT FROM MOTOR WITH PLIERS (BLUE ARROW)

b. UNPLUG THE 2 SOLENOIDS (RED ARROW)

c. UNPLUG THE MOTOR WIRE (GREEN ARROW)

d. UNPLUG POWER SUPPLY (ORANGE ARROW)

e. UNPLUG KEYPAD WIRE (YELLOW ARROW)

f. UNPLUG THE 2 BATTERY CONNECTORS (WHITE ARROW)

g. REMOVE THE 4 SCREWS THAT HOLD THE BOARD IN THE RED BOX

**SEE EXPANDED ELECTRONIC CARD PICTURE TO IDENTIFY CONNECTION LOCATIONS**

4 - DO STEPS BACKWARDS TO INSTALL THE NEW ELECTRONIC BOARD. AVOID REMOVING THE THERMISTOR WIRE FROM THE NEW ELECTRONIC CARD AS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO REINSTALL **MAKE SURE THAT LEFT SOLENOID IS CONNECTED TO THE LOWER CONNECTION (VALVE 1) AND THAT THE RED WIRE IS ON THE + SIDE AND THE BLACK ON THE - SIDE. SAME FOR THE 2 BATTERY CONNECTIONS, RED WITH RED.
