Genius: How to Replace the Motor

 

This article will explain how to replace the motor of a Genius Electronic shower valve.
Preparation:

Important: Turn off the water supply to the electronic valve before starting. You can either turn off the main power to the house or close the shut-off valves, if the valve is equipped with them.  Also turn off the electrical supply to the electronic valve.  Failure to do so may result in flooding, personal injury or electrical shock.

  • Recommended Tools: Phillips screwdriver, adjustable wrench
Instructions:

1. UNSCREW THE RED BOX 8 SCREWS

2. IN YOUR RED BOX, UNSCREW THE BRASS THERMISTOR NUT (GREEN ARROW) WITH PLIERS AND DISCONNECT THE MOTOR WIRES (RED ARROW)

3. UNSCREW THE 3 SCREWS THAT HOLD THE MOTOR IN THE BOX (BLUE ARROWS)

4. TO REMOVE THE MOTOR, UNSCREW THE 4 WHITE PLASTIC HEXAGONAL NUTS, AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE 4 GASKETS TO REINSTALL THE NEW MOTOR.

5. TO INSTALL THE NEW MOTOR, DO THE SAME STEPS IN REVERSE **DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE WHITE PLASTIC HEXAGONAL NUTS**

6. ONCE THE NEW MOTOR AND THE 2 WIRES ARE IN PLACE, DO A TEST BEFORE CLOSING THE RED BOX. CHANGE THE TEMPERATURE ON THE KEYPAD IN THE SHOWER, YOU SHOULD SEE THE PLASTIC DEFLECTOR (GREEN ARROW) MOVE UP AND DOWN WITH THE CHANGE
