To flush the valve through the body:
1. Remove the face plate. Remove the two face plate screws 9.24855 to remove the dome and lever.
- On the U.5555, remove the volume control assembly 9.12557 before removing the faceplate
- Do not disassemble the thermostatic handle and dome. The cartridge cannot be accessed through the dome
2. Unscrew the hot and cold supply nuts to access the screens. 9.31556 screens - 9.03559 nut.
- If the supply lines can be moved slightly, you do not have to remove the body from the cavity.
- If the supply lines are rigid, the body will have to be removed.
3. If the supply lines can be moved slightly then remove the screens and check for debris
- If you have to flush the valve, leave the screens out, but make sure the o-rings are in place and tighten the hot and cold supply nuts.
- Remove the cartridge, 9.13554
- Working with a partner, flush the lines through the valve so the water exits out into the shower stall. 3 seconds should be enough to flush the lines.
- Do not let water into the wall
- Reinstall the cartridge.
- Reinstall the screens.
- Set the temperature on the cartridge, and test the unit for flow and temperature.
- Reinstall the faceplate.
4. If the supply lines cannot be removed.
- The unit is designed to be removed from the installation.
- Unscrew the hot and cold supply lines.
- Unscrew the upper outlet to the volume control or controls.
- Remove or loosen the set screw on the holding ring 9.18555.
- Lift the valve out of the cavity.
- Service the screens.
- If you have to flush the valve, leave the screens out, but make sure the o-rings are in place, and tighten the hot and cold supply nuts.
- Remove the cartridge, 9.13554.
- Working with a partner, flush the lines through the valve so the water exits out into the shower stall. 3 seconds should be enough to flush the lines.
- Do not let water into the wall
- Reinstall the cartridge.
- Reinstall the screens.
- Set the temperature on the cartridge, and test the unit for flow and temperature.
- Reinstall the faceplate.
